OCR, forms, and PDF editing: what is the difference?
These terms describe different document tasks. Understanding them makes an edition comparison much more useful.
Editing works on document content
PDF editing changes content within a PDF, such as its text or page arrangement. The result depends on the source file and the tools in the chosen application.
OCR recognizes text in an image
A scanned page can contain only an image of words. OCR attempts to recognize that text. Results depend on scan quality, layout, language, and the OCR engine; proofreading still matters.
A fillable form needs interactive fields
An ordinary page with blank lines is not automatically an interactive form. Form creation tools add fields people can complete electronically. Check whether you need to create forms or only complete them.
Choose against your actual use case
In PDF-XChange’s lineup, compare Editor Plus when enhanced OCR and fillable form creation matter. The publisher describes these as additional capabilities beyond Editor.
